Fun Healthy Activities To Try Out In London!

If you’re in London and want to try out some fun, healthy activities, you’re in the right place! We’re here to introduce lots of different things you can do in London that are great fun, will keep you healthy and will help you to see the city. No matter how much you want to spend or what kind of fitness level you have, we’ve got you covered with these bits of inspiration!

Cycle Around Hyde Park

Firstly, you could cycle around Hyde Park. This is London’s most iconic park, with stunning landscapes, great water features and generally just beautiful scenery for you to explore. It’s a whopping 350 acres, so one of the best ways to see everything is to get a bike! All across London, you’ve got Santander Cycles, with 12,000 all across London with 800 docking stations! You can hire one for just £1.65, and there are two docking stations in the very centre of Hyde Park, then around 20 all around the edge!

Get yourself a bike and cycle all around the park, which is possible. If you’re driving, simply choose Hyde Park parking, and then you can go from there. You could also stop off at one of the cafes, or stop at a shop earlier on and take a picnic in the basket on the front. This is a great way to spend a morning or afternoon, plus there are so many other Royal Parks for you to explore as well if you want to go a bit further afield. Do An Outdoor Yoga Class

Another great benefit of being in London is the amount of fun and different fitness classes out there. One of our personal favourites are all the yoga classes to try, including outdoor ones! You can do yoga on paddle boards in Stoke Newington, try rooftop yoga in Peckham, head to temperate house yoga at Botanical Kew Gardens or try yoga in the Sky Garden! There are also plenty of options in Hyde Park over the summer too. This is such a fun thing to do, something completely different and a great way to spend a morning workout in London whilst also exploring the city! Even if you’re not into yoga, there are plenty of beginner-friendly classes for you to try, and we think you might just fall in love with yoga thanks to the spectacular locations!

Try A Gong Bath Class

Something else you can try that is good for the mind, body and soul is a gong bath class! Gongs have been used as healing tools dating back over 18,000 years, so it’s no surprise sound therapy is making a resurgence! With more of a focus on meditation rather than physicality, this class is fantastic for your breathwork, to help you unwind completely. It involves lots of different guided practices to help with your self-awareness, and generally, it’s just a lovely activity to try.

Go Paddleboarding

Another fun way to see the city and get active is to go paddleboarding! There are so many options all around the city, from sunset and full moon sessions to dog-friendly paddles, social paddles and everything in between. Experience the busiest neighbourhoods in London from the peace and serenity of your paddleboard, whether heading through Primrose Hill, down past some of the city’s biggest and best attractions, or through the iconic Camden. There isn’t anything quite like this when it comes to exploring London, so get this planned for your trip!

Head To A Run Club

There has been a huge surge of run clubs across the world, including London, so if you fancy a run and want to meet people, this is a great way to do it! With some designed to be more social and others designed to push your pace, you’ve got options. From Paddington to Battersea, Hyde Park to Regent Street and Hampstead Heath, they’re all over the city, and definitely worth trying out. The best way to find one is probably to just go for the one that is closest to where you’re staying and suits your pace, as you could spend ages trying to find the best one if you open your options to the entire city!

Kayak Down The Thames

If paddleboarding isn’t really your thing, then another great option is to kayak down the Thames. With very experienced guides to lead you, you can enjoy all of the stunning sights along the Thames, with different companies offering different routes, so you can find the one that suits you. We’d recommend this through the summer to make the most of it, although most companies only run them through the summer anyway. Whether you want to paddle for a sunset pint on the Thames or would prefer to go more into the countryside, there are plenty of great options for you to enjoy.

Go Climbing

Last but certainly not least, there are lots of incredible indoor climbing and bouldering centres all across the UK, and London is home to some of the best. Something that everyone who tries a climbing centre in London says in common is that as soon as you walk in, it really feels like a welcoming community where people are sociable and want to talk. London can feel like a lonely place at times, whether you’re visiting for a short time or living there, however, climbing centres seem to provide that element of familiarity, safety and community that can be lacking.

Plus, there are so many different options for you to try at each climbing centre, so whether you’re a complete beginner or quite experienced, you’ll fit right in. You’ll meet people, have fun and stay healthy, what more could you want? Plan this out for a late morning activity whilst you’re in London and you’ll have a blast, we’re sure. Many places will also do sessions designed specifically for beginners if that’ll make you feel a bit more comfortable.
